In July 2009, the character of Chance Chancello was aged (SORAS’d) into an adult who was played by GUIDING LIGHT alum John Driscoll. Chance Chancellor did not appear in September of 2010, but he showed up a number of times in 2011. His name was mentioned in the fall of 2019, and it wasn’t long until he made his return to Genoa City. The character is now being played by Donny Boaz, who joined ‘The Young and the Restless’ on Nov. 8, 2019.

Nina Webster and Philip Chancellor III had Philip “Chance” Chancellor IV in 1988. After his father’s death, his mother married Ryan McNeil, who became a new father figure to him. Philip was mad at Ryan when he broke up with Nina and moved on with another woman, Tricia Dennison, and Nina told him spend time with him as usual even though Tricia was in the picture.

Ryan ended up with another woman, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) but still remained a father figure to Chance until he was killed in 2001. After his death, Nina and Philip relocated to Los Angeles.
Nina mentioned during a visit to Genoa City in 2008 that Philip was serving in the Iraq war. In 2009, he came home, now going by his nickname, Chance. He came home to deal with the shocking revelation that his dad had faked his death. After he was discharged from the army, he resumed a detective post at the Genoa City Police Department.
Chance started to crush on Chloe Mitchell who didn’t admit her feelings for him until he was stabbed and almost died as a result. Chance proposed to her during a trip to New York City, but she turned him down. Chloe changed her mind after talking with Kevin and accepted his proposal.

Chloe called off the engagement when she discovered chance had an affair with Heather Stevens. Chance was arrested for drug possession while he was trying to prove that his GCPD partner, Ronan Malloy was a bad cop. The drug was planted on him by Ronan, who was an undercover FBI agent. It was also revealed that he was Nina’s son. Ronan shot and killed Chance when he tried to bust the group of dirty cops.
Ronan finally revealed his real self. The bad cops were also punished. Christine Blair arranged for Philip and Nina to be taken to a private location where they were surprised to see their son, Chance. He had faked his own death so he could join the Witness Protection Program after the bust.
Nina and Philip agreed to keep this secret and said their goodbyes. Later, Ronan needed a liver transplant and Chance resurfaced to find out he was a match and save his brother’s life. Chance reconnected with Chloe as a friend and worked alongside Ronan to bust Colin Atkinson. He later left Genoa to take a job at the pentagon.
Chance’s family was devastated and also upset at the claims the young man was leading a drug ring. In the end, Ronan revealed his true identity and finally brought the dirty cops to justice. This year, Chance’s name was mentioned having something to do with Adam Newman, who spent most of his days with the Chancellor heir while he was in Vegas. Amanda Sinclair showed up Genoa City, claiming to be Chance as an attorney. Chance was contesting Katherine’s will. The will had Chancellor’s fortune to Devon Hamilton.
