CNN has suspended Chris Cuomo indefinitely. The announcement was made Tuesday evening by a CNN spokesperson in a statement,

“The New York Attorney General’s office released transcripts and exhibits Monday that shed new light on Chris Cuomo’s involvement in his brother’s defense. The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions. When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly.“

The announcement continued that they understood the need to put his family first,

“But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second. However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew. As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation.”

Cuomo himself has responded to his suspension from CNN on his SiriusXM radio show saying that he understands the news, but it still hurts. On his show on Wednesday, Cuomo spoke out,

“It hurts to even say it. It’s embarrassing. But I understand it. And I understand why some people feel the way they do about what I did. I’ve apologized in the past, and I mean it.“

This has had mixed responses on social media, with some coming to defend the commentator, while others said it was about time. Chris has been a staple of the CNN panel for a long time, but it seems this has gone to far even for a company like CNN. His suspension is a bit surprising, to be honest.

Michael Grynbaum of The New York Times reported that Anderson Cooper will host for two hours on Wednesday night in order to fill the now-vacant 9 pm time slot.

What do you think? Are you surprised at all by the announcement or do you think it was about time they did something about Cuomo? Let us know in the comments below.
