Last week on Y&R, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) kissed Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) unexpectedly, which caught him by surprise. Frankly, it caught us by surprise as well.
Cane’s Selfless Gesture touched Lily
Lily had been trying to keep Cane at arm’s length. However, she was so touched by Cane’s kind gesture of donating bone marrow to Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) that she expressed her gratitude with a sweet, gentle smooch.
It was the moment that we saw a shift in Lily and Cane’s relationship. Cane was willing to go the extra mile for Lily. His selflessness seemed to break down the walls between them.

When Lily kissed Cane before leaving for New York to support Malcolm’s surgery, it changed the vibe between the former couple, as Lily is now very much aware of how much Cane truly cares for her.
Additionally, Lily doesn’t even seem to care what Devon Winters (Bryton James) and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) think about Cane.
The pair have been significantly judgmental of Cane and highly suspicious of his motives. However, we notice that whenever Devon and Nate give her unsolicited advice regarding Cane, Lily doesn’t want to listen.

Unlike Devon and Nate, she’s actually extremely grateful to Cane, as he was a match for Malcolm and, without hesitation, was willing to donate his bone marrow to treat Malcolm’s aplastic anemia.
Lily was clear with Nate and Devon that she’s not thinking about anything other than Cane being a match and her father’s condition. In fact, Cane has been nothing but supportive and patient with her, and it may have finally paid off.
Lily Realizes Cane is Still the Man She First Fell in Love With
Cane is being treated by Lily with much more care and respect. This is likely because she knows she’s been harsh toward him since he returned to Genoa City.
Lily Winters was furious with Cane over the Aristotle Dumas ruse. Not to mention, the death of her then-boyfriend, Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers), and detective Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd), all of which happened on Cane’s former estate in France.
Lily saw Cane only as a conniving phony because of his former Aristotle Dumas persona and his shady way of bringing together all of Genoa City’s prominent and well-to-do families last summer to play games.

All Cane’s guests wanted to do was find their way through the massive hedge maze located on his property and have their cell service restored.
Lily blamed Cane for Damian and Chance’s murders and for being trapped there for so long. She didn’t like his ruthlessness. Since her experience in Nice, she’s believed the worst in him and refused to give him a chance.
However, now Lily has opened her eyes to the truth about Cane and realizes that he’s still the man that she first fell in love with.

He’s not the monster she made him out to be to the twins and anyone else who would listen. While Lily and Cane shared a New Year’s Eve kiss, it didn’t amount to much. Lily left town soon after and claimed she “needed a break from him.”
The kiss they shared last week seemed to set the scene for a fresh chapter in their love story. “Lane” fans now have good reason to hope that their favorite couple may soon reunite.
