‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that three soap opera actresses were nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Dramatic Series, including Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson).

In the end, this year’s winner of the statue was Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester Finnegan, The Bold and the Beautiful), but Egan shared some thoughts about what she would have said if she had.

Scenes where Chelsea Lawson almost died by jumping, and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) saved her, were contributed by the actress who plays the character. Many viewers were affected by the dark and relatable moments.

Melissa Claire Egan took to Instagram Stories to speak about the nomination and the award show saying that, “It would have been nice to win.”

While she lost out on the award, she still praised Jacqueline MacInnes Wood for her amazing performance, “But listen, Jacqueline’s amazing. I’m obsessed with her, so Godspeed to her because she’s fantastic. But, the God’s honest truth is what I really wanted to be able to say if I won was just that I felt very honored to be able to tell a story about mental health.”

She continued to say that, “the main thing I would have said if I had won, which I didn’t, is that truly being honored for any award or being nominated is fantastic. But the real reward is being able to tell a story that hopefully helps people, and that’s what we wanted to do with this story.
