The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Doug Davidson Opens Up About Paul's Return To Genoa City, Says He's Happier Than Ever on Y&R

The young and the Restless spoilers indicate that if anyone is happy about Doug Davidson’s return to the Young and the Restless besides us, it is the man himself! He is back in the role of Paul Williams; a role that he has had since 1978. He was taken off of the show in 2018, but is now back and feeling better than ever! Fans of the show were incredibly upset when he was suddenly off of the show. Things have changed with the cast and crew, but overall Davidson couldn’t be happier to be back. Here’s what you need to know.

Davidson said it felt so good to be back and the four months that he was away were confusing to him. He mentioned that he was so used to getting up for his commute every morning that he would still wake up at the same time and get ready for his day. Although, he wasn’t going to work on the soap at that time. He said the four months went by very quickly and he enjoyed the break, but was ready to get back to the show.

When he was on the break from the show, Kristoff St. John passed away and he said his return saw a much deeper connection between the cast and crew. St. John really pulled them together and they were all happy to remember him for the great man that he was.

He really missed being on the show because it was pretty much his identity since he’s been there for 41 years! He took the changes on the show pretty well and is a fan of the new characters that have been added. He mentioned that he enjoys the role that Rey now has in Paul’s life and on the GCPD. After just a few episodes, he is back in the full swing of things on the Young and the Restless.

Many fans have inquired to Davidson how it felt to see fellow cast member, Eric Braeden, sticking up for him on social media. Braeden was angered by Davidson being booted from the show and was not afraid to put it all over Twitter. He really stepped up for Davidson and he is so grateful to have people like that on his side.

We know that we have never been happier about a character returning to the show. With the new executive producer, we hope that we will see other characters being written back onto the show.
