‘The Real Housewives of New York’ spoilers find that Andy Cohen says that while he is certainly proud of how far the Real Housewives franchise has gone over the years, there’s one thing that he certainly doesn’t like about it, and it’s the fact that so many of the housewives often share spoilers about the show on social media before their seasons even air. Here’s what he has to say.
In the In My Heart With Heather Thompson podcast, Real Housewives of New York alum Heather Thompson asked him how Andy deals with the franchise when it comes to trying to maintain their traditional appeal.

He said that one of the biggest challenges producers have are trying to keep all of the major filming of events off of social media. Unfortunately, that hasn’t always happened, as there have been plenty of leaks about conflicts that actually need to be put on hold for several months.
He said, “It’s interesting, because one of the things that we’re facing … and I think it’s really been an issue I would assume on Keeping Up With The Kardashains… [they] know from social media and from paparazzi what the Kardashians are doing every day, you know?”
He added, “They’re just out there and it becomes something and I think with the Housewives sometimes they start broadcasting on social media or posting a lot of stuff from the trip and I’m the guy who’s like, ‘Ugh! Stop posting this! It’s gonna feel stale when it comes out in six months!’ The world is being live-streamed, essentially, and I think that is something of a challenge for certain shows.”
Andy also opened up about the future of the show. He said, “[In] terms of the future, this show has always been a really interesting reflection of a certain group of peoples’ reality. And sometimes that reflection is not what people want to see reflected and sometimes it is. So I think that when we can reflect things while still not losing sight of the fact that this show is basically a soap opera that’s meant to be entertaining, then that’s when we get it right.”
