Queen Elizabeth Admits To Being Tired And Exhausted After Bout With COVID-19

She might be the queen of England, but even COVID-19 got the best out of her. Queen Elizabeth recently admitted that she was left “very tired” and “very exhausted” during her bout with the virus earlier this year. Here’s what you need to know.

During a virtual visit to the Royal London Hospital on Wednesday, marking the official opening of the medical institution’s Queen Elizabeth Unit, the 95-year-old sympathized with a former virus patient who lost his brother and father to the illness.

During her video call with workers and medical staff, the Queen listened to their stories of coping with the huge influx of Covid patients, and was told by one senior nurse “we held their hands, we wiped their tears and we provided comfort.”

Speaking to former Covid patient Asef Hussain, and his wife Shamina, the Queen said about the virus: “It does leave one very tired and exhausted, doesn’t it? This horrible pandemic. It’s not a nice result.”

The Queen was told his wife called the ambulance after he had struggled to catch his breath, and Mr Hussain added: “I remember waking up one morning and just finding it really, really difficult to breathe. I remember waking my wife saying that I feel like there’s no oxygen in the room. I remember me sticking my head out the window, just trying to breathe, trying to get that extra oxygen.”

That said, the Queen was not the only person in her circle to test positive for Covid-19, a royal source said. “A number of cases have been diagnosed in the Windsor Castle team,” one source has said. A royal source confirmed at the time that the Queen had “recently” met her eldest son, but the source did not elaborate on exactly when the interaction had taken place. What’s more, Prince Charles had also contracted the virus twice – once in 2020 and earlier this year as well.

Back on February 11th, Clarence House tweeted: “This morning The Prince of Wales has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating. HRH is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend today’s events in Winchester and will look to reschedule his visit as soon as possible,” the statement added. He had been due to unveil a statue of a Jewish businesswoman from medieval times.”
