The tributes keep on coming in light of Prince Philip’s passing at the age of 99.
Princess Anne And Prince Edward Pay Their Respects To Prince Philip
It was no secret that Philip was struggling with his health, and so the news of the passing was to be expected. In a statement at the time, the Royals said: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.” Despite the announcement, several members of the Royal family have been left shattered by the news.
His daughter, Princess Anne, spoke on how life would simply not be the same. In a recorded heartfelt message, Anne told ITV the following: “Without him, life will be completely different. But from society’s perspective, he was able to keep pace with the kind of technological changes that have such an impact … but above all that, it’s not about the technology it’s about the people.”
Philip certainly left an impression on the public. He was a divisive figure as his heroic courage, typified when he was a member of the Navy during the Second World War, was mixed with controversial comments-leading to accusations of racism. That has not dented the relationship that his kids have had, though. Prince Edward, who happens to be his youngest son, spoke on how his father had left behind a big legacy.
This was because Philip had set up the Duke of Edinburgh Award. This is a charitable initiative that encourages physical, skills, volunteering, and expedition. He told ITV: “The fact it has now spread to more than 140 countries, way beyond the Commonwealth, way beyond the English-speaking world, is [an] enormous testament to that original vision.” There has been no news on whether The Duke of Edinburgh will continue in light of Philip’s passing.
But given the major success it has already had, it seems that it will most likely continue. With that in mind, Philip’s vision can only be truly honoured, if the Royals manage to reunite and put their recent troubles behind them. If Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can reconcile with the Royals, then that is what Philip would have wanted.
