Sophie and Joe have reached a deal in their intense custody suit and settled out of court. The decision was determined reasonably and amicably.
The former couple have a temporary child custody agreement. They will share custody of their two girls, Willa and Delphine. Sophie and Joe will each receive two weeks a month with their daughters until January.
A Custody Agreement is in the Works
The kids will be with Sophie from October 9 through 21. She can take them with her to England to see Sophie’s family. Sophie also has work commitments in the UK she needs to attend to.
On October 21, Sophie must turn the girls over to Joe, who will have them with him through November 2. Joe will be on tour with the Jonas Brothers then, so his kids will travel with him.
The Jonas Brothers will play in Austin, Texas, San Diego, and Anaheim, California, during this time. It should be a fun experience for the kids.
On November 22, Joe will reportedly spend Thanksgiving Day with his children. The agreement is that Sophie would spend Christmas Day and New Year’s with Willa and Delphine. The kids will stay with her from December 16 through January 7, 2024.
The children must be transferred from one parent to another in New York City. The new agreement voids the original one, in which the children had to remain in New York until the custody battle was over.
In September, Sophie had filed legal documents, including a letter that Joe wrote stating that the children were to go to England to live permanently.
Joe responded to the document by explaining that the kids had spent most of their life in the US and are American citizens.
Joe and Sophie Will Share Custody
The custody dispute was said to be an “open war” between them, but they seem to be on a better path, ensuring that both parents will see their children and share custody.
A trial is set to proceed on January 2 to determine the custody arrangement and living situation for the children.
The custody arrangements are being determined in New York. The couple’s split was mutual, as they both led different lifestyles. Joe officially filed for divorce in September. The filing stated that the relationship was “irretrievably broken.”
Sophie is more of a party girl, and Joe prefers to stay home when he is not on tour. When the two of them decided to break up, they had this to say on Instagram:
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have decided to end our marriage amicably. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly, this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Sophie and Joe were living separate lives for months before they officially decided to end their marriage. It was smart for them to settle out of court. Due to them being celebrities, all eyes are on them.
Hopefully, they will be able to settle their disputes without too much interference from the media.
