Saturday Night Live continues to push James Austin Johnson as he heads up yet another opening. Johnson is a talented person, but it feels like they may be trying to push him too hard on us. However, that’s not the news, as he portrayed President Joe Biden in the opening skit Saturday night and was joined by Jason Sudeikis and Alex Moffat.
The skit showed current Joe Biden (Johnson) as he’s visited by ghosts of his past. 2013 Joe Biden (Sudeikis) and March 2021 Biden (Moffat). They also threw in a few Jen Psaki jokes just for good measure. This is coming as a bit of a surprise as SNL has been keeping their distance when going in on Biden and has finally seemed to loosen up as his ratings continue to fall.

Fans commented on the cold open, “I loved this. JAJ’s impression is scarily accurate, but Sudeikis’ Biden really does capture how differently we viewed the man in 2013. This could have been a shallow excuse to see a bunch of Biden impressions, but it ended up being a pretty clever bit of satire.”, “I miss the old me” audience a mile ahead”, “The funniest part of this sketch is Psaki saying she uses facts.” and “Finally. Took SNL long enough. Let’s Go Brandon!”
Many have panned SNL for going so hard on Donald Trump but continuing to hold back punches on Biden (who equally deserves) them. It seems they have finally come around and are beginning to realize people want to see every politician mocked and made fun of. They’re all terrible.
A lot more viewers commented about how much they loved to see SNL go after both sides finally and this is what people seem to love. Hopefully, SNL continues to keep the gloves off and we can get more great Biden jokes.
