Ricky Martin is making it pretty clear that he is voting and has always voted blue in the race for the White House. The former chart topper recently opened up about his political views and said that he feels “super sad” to see his fellow Latinos back sitting President Donald Trump, rather than his opponent, former Vice President Joe Biden. Here’s what he has to say.
The Living La Vida Loca hitmaker made his comments during The Big Ticket podcast. He says that being a gay Latino man, he believes that voting for Joe Biden is his only option.
Ricky Martin Says Hispanics Voting For Trump Is ‘Super Sad’
Martin said, “Ive been supporting Biden forever. “I think he is the only option we have and he is great and he has been in politics all his life. This is the moment. We all need to get together and be loud about the course of this nation.”
He also said that his family have a personal stake in this election. “I am a Latino, gay [and] married to an Arab living in Trump’s America,” he explained. “We check all the boxes.”
Along with Hollywood actress Eva Longoria, Ricky Martin campaigned for Joe Biden at an event in Miami last month. And while he’s certainly seeing a lot of support, he still feels disheartened to see so many Latinos backing Donald Trump.
“It is super sad,” he said, “Trumpeters make a lot of noise. And it’s scary to see their enthusiasm but us, we’re doing what’s right, the right way and we’ll see what happens in November. I’m very optimistic.”
