Braunwyn Windham-Burke, the former star of the ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ has announced the news that she will be leading an Orange Country Pride Parade.

The reality TV star has been assigned the role of a grand marshal of the parade which is set to go ahead on Saturday, 25 June 2022 in Southern California. But given that the area is known for being quite conservative in nature, the former housewife admitted that she does have her work cut out when it comes to promoting LGBTQ+ rights.

And yet, that has not put her off one bit. In fact, Braunwyn is raring to go. In an interview with Instinct Magazine, she said: “As you can tell from the ‘Housewives’ show, I was met with a lot of homophobia from my castmates.

“Having people stand up and say, ‘This is our town, too. We will not be marginalized nor minimized,’ is important.” Brauwyn is all too aware of what it takes to stand outside the box.

She made history on the Realhousewives franchise when she became the first gay housewife. This ultimately paved the way for others to follow suit, as shown by Julia Lemigova and Martina Navratilova’s gay relationship on the ‘Real Housewives of Miami’.

That is why Braunwyn recognised that standing up for her beliefs would make headway. She added: “Being the first gay ‘Housewife’ wasn’t easy, but it’s already opened the doors for others, and that’s what counts.

“Hopefully having representation in OC Pride will sound the alarm to the community that queer folks live here and are not going anywhere.” The fans on social media were delighted by the news and wished Braunwyn the best for her upcoming role. One person wrote: “This is fantastic! Well done Mama!!”

Time will tell if Braunwyn can manage to pull off the event, and the fans will be there to support her every step of the way. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
