When you are on a reality show or a former reality show cast member, it is important to watch what you say or write on social media. Recently, former cast member of the Real Housewives of New York, Bethenny Frankel, found herself in hot water after an episode of her podcast aired. She made some transphobic comments on the show and her listeners were not at all thrilled about this.
Bethenny made a comment when she was telling a story about a girl at a summer camp, just for girls, and it came out that one of them had a penis. Frankel ended up trying to express herself if this had happened to her and then she got into the trans student-athlete debate.

Of course, this did not go over very well with her listeners. She did mention on her Twitter account that she was “not apologizing” for her opinions and “not afraid of cancelation.”
This is not the first time that one of these housewives has done or said something like this. We have seen a lot of bigotry on the shows and these women are just getting away with it. Is this something that Bravo is proud of? Does no one remember when Luann de Lesseps’ dressed in her blackface costume?
Bethenny made a Twitter post that read, “so the only people canceled today are me, Kylie Jenner, and Ellen Pompeo and it’s already 3:47 PM EST! Come on people, surely we can do better than that! Who is next?”
She then added, “Listen to the podcast. Then comment. I was absolutely not wrong. And I’m going to discuss this again this week. Thankfully I have a platform to clarify what the media loves to distort.” She got a reply back from a fan who wrote, “This is a time to learn, Bethenny. Humility can be a good thing. Doesn’t mean you’re weak. You were wrong with your comments.”
One of her close friends, Brauwyn Windham-Burke, who was on The Real Housewives of Orange County, came out as a lesbian in 2020 and feels that Frankel is a decent person. She said, “I think it’s very important for the cisgender community to do the work and the research on their own. Don’t wait for a trans person to teach you.”
It seems that Frankel isn’t too stressed about the opinions that she chose to display on her podcast.
