    Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth II’s decision to  recognise Duchess Camilla for a New Year’s honour award has been seen as a dig at Prince Harry.

That is according to Royal expert Richard Eden. According to reports, The Queen decided to give Camilla the ‘Royal Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter’ in recognition for her services to the Royal family.

And in doing such a move, it recognises that Camilla was one of the stalwart members of the Royal family. And yet, by not including Harry in this, there was a feeling that his value has now been diminished.

In an official statement, Richard said: “Fascinating move by the Queen as many thought Camilla would have to wait until Prince Charles was King to join the most senior order of chivalry.

“Prince Harry is not a member #royal #orderofthegarter.” This move did start up a broad conversation on social media.

There was a clear demarcation between the views of royal experts and what the general public thought.

On the one hand, experts came out to back Richard and stated that this was a significant move given that Harry is now not a senior member of the Royal family especially since Prince William was also honoured with an award too.

Meanwhile, members from the general public felt that this was an unfair attack on Harry, as Camilla’s achievements do not need to be clouded by mentioning his name.

One person on Twitter wrote: “Not everything needs to be referred to Prince Harry. Prince Charles’ brothers were appointed until they were considerably older than Prince Harry is now.

“Since he is no longer serving the Crown, it’s doubtful it will even be considered for him.”

It is not clear whether Harry has personally been impacted by this move, but given that he is busy with so many projects overseas coupled with the fact that he recently saw the arrival of a second child Lilibet, he has plenty of things to keep himself occupied.

And on top of that, his tell-all memoir is set to come out this year which will give him the chance to express how he feels. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
