Prince William and Prince Harry “discreetly” attended their uncle, Lord Fellowes, funeral at St Mary’s Church in Norfolk. It’s the first time the warring brothers were publicly seen together since May 2023 at their father, King Charles’s coronation. They last spoke at their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022.
Prince Harry And Prince William Had No Communication At The Funeral
Unfortunately, the brothers are said to have had no communication at their uncle’s funeral. They kept their distance from each other.
Sources close to the Duke of Sussex first claimed he wouldn’t be able to make it to the church service due to security concerns, but Harry secretly traveled to the UK to be there.
Lord Fellows, who died on July 29th, was the private secretary to the late Queen in the 1990s. He helped the Queen through the divorces of three of her children and was present for her “annus horribilis ” and the death of Princess Diana. He also drafted the Queen’s speech when Diana passed.
William and Harry sat apart and didn’t look at each other while they were at the service. Funeral-goers described their attitude toward each other as “frosty.”
Michael Cole, former BBC royal correspondent, commented,
“If Prince Harry imagined that this secret dash and sudden appearance might start to thaw the ice cap that has frozen between them, he would be greatly disappointed. Prince William did not look at him or acknowledge his presence.”
The brothers also didn’t speak to each other at the reception after the service, but family members talked to them separately.
The memory of the two boys who were once inseparable has been replaced by two men who have no use for one another. It’s an unfortunate state.
Harry Deeply Hurt His Brother
Cole added,
“As things are at present, reconciliation may never happen, such is the hurt Prince William feels at his brother’s betrayals and snipes in interviews, a television series, and his ghost-written book, “Spare,” the biggest-selling autobiography ever published.”
Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down as working royals in January 2020, and ever since then, it’s been one disaster after the next.
The Sussexes had an interview with Oprah, and Meghan accused the royal family of racism. When she was pregnant with Archie, she claimed there were lots of “concerns” and “conversations” about how dark the baby’s skin would be.
Prince William was furious, especially when Meghan’s mouthpiece, Omid Scobie, named his wife, Kate Middleton, and his father, King Charles, as the royal racists.
In Harry’s tell-all memoir, “Spare,” he detailed an altercation between him and William. William allegedly tossed Harry into the dog’s bowl, and he was left with cuts all over his body. The argument was over Meghan.
It’s not reasonable to expect William to forgive his brother without a sincere apology; even then, it could take time for him to heal.
Prince William and Prince Harry may be unable to repair their relationship soon. King Charles is said to be heartbroken that his two sons are at odds.
It is rumored that William doesn’t even want to invite Harry to his coronation. Hopefully, the brothers mend fences long before then.
