Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning more trips this year. They were so thrilled with the warm reception they received from Nigeria that they wanted to go on more quasi-royal tours.
Prince Harry And Meghan’s Trip Was A Slap In The Face To King Charles
The Sussexes trip to Nigeria sent the wrong message to the royal family, not to mention the public and the media, that they don’t need King Charles’s permission to be working royals.
“Everything that you might expect from an official royal visit was there: the receptions, the visits to schools and charities, to wounded soldiers and the disabled,”
Royal expert Tom Quinn explained.
The suggestion and what it infers must be like a slap in the face to the King, and Prince William must be beside himself. It’s blatantly disrespectful to the royal family that they disregard the late Queen Elizabeth’s wishes and do a half-in, half-out deal.
The Queen wanted them to choose: Either be part of the monarchy and be fully paid working royals. With all the privileges that come with the titles, make your way, but do not use the royal family for commercial gain.
Her Majesty very much wanted Harry and Meghan to be ambassadors throughout the Commonwealth, but they had the bold notion that they didn’t want to do it as working members of the royal family.
Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal duties in January 2020. They found a home in Montecito, California, where they reside with their two babies, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
They decided to leave the UK, and they knew the rules. Despite this, they’ve spent the last four years capitalizing on their royal titles and promoting themselves and their agendas wherever they travel.
The Royal Family’s Worst Fears
They wanted the royal titles but sought to do everything on their terms. They wanted to have their cake and eat it, too. Now, the Queen is gone, and it’s time for Charles to put his foot down.
The Duke and Duchess’s visit to Nigeria presented itself as if it were an actual royal tour. Last week, Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, said that Harry and Meghan were not representing the UK government or the monarchy on their trip. They were invited to the country by military official Christopher Musa.
The Nigeran people hailed Meghan as “Princess Meghan.” However, she didn’t bother to explain to them that she was, in fact, the Duchess of Sussex.
Quinn commented that.
“The whistlestop 72-hour visit confirmed the worst fears for the Duke of Sussex’s family and has left the King and Prince of Wales absolutely furious. Meghan and Harry’s speeches and their whole attitude have been designed to give the impression that they are still fully paid-up royals.”
King Charles was advised to stop any future tours Harry and Meghan planned. The foreign office oversees any trips the members of the royal family make. The government controls trips to ensure that the country’s best interests are at heart. Harry and Meghan said,
“This is the first of many trips to come,”
Which could prove disastrous.
