NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers indicate the PTB shared a teaser called “Possession.” This hinted a return to the ‘90s and Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) possession by the devil. We thought it would be a Halloween thing, but it seems they didn’t want to wait. Let’s take a look at what happened and why we can’t wait for more.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Lead-up
First, ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal the promo wasn’t the only hint at something going on in Salem. There was also the Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) project. He, on Marlena’s advice, called Will Horton (Chandler Massey) to talk about Hollywood and that script Will wrote. This did sit well with John Black (Drake Hogestyn) when he found out.
Right away, he went on about how Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) might not like having a painful memory revisited on film. Plus, he alluded to Marlena’s affair with John leading to some very dark times. He had no idea how accurate he was about to be.

So, we finally got some word on Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) today. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) found no medical reason for his recent memory slips or odd behavior. So, she wanted him to speak to Marlena and have her do some testing of her own. She thought maybe Marlena would be able to shed light on the situation before they went into a more expensive test.
Marlena’s session with Doug started out okay. He seemed genuinely worried about what might be going on. However, later on, he dropped the act. Doug not only admitted to purposefully locking “that bitch” in the freezer, but he made sure to say how much he enjoyed it and his other antics. Marlena, of course, thought Doug was having an episode and told him he didn’t mean that. She was wrong.

What is going on? ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers indicate Doug is actually possessed by the devil and he’s here for Marlena. We love this twist of Doug being possessed. While another promo suggests he won’t be the only one, it was fun to see the actor playing this dark moment. He rocked the reveal and you can tell he enjoyed himself in the scene.
We’re also loving this twist for another reason. We weren’t looking forward to seeing an Alzheimer’s or tumor story with Doug, as that’s just a really tragic turn. Plus, we just saw both of those play out on ‘General Hospital’ over the past couple of years. So, it’s nice to see there are (currently, anyway) no plans to write this character out in such a sad way.
