Love Island news finds that fans could be set to see more of Laura Whitmore on ITV programming, as the show’s winter host is among the contenders to replace Holly Willoughby on Celebrity Juice. Whitmore faces stern competition in the form of former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan. Keegan has recently left her role in BBC smash-hit Our Girl.
Both stars are neck and neck according to the reports, with ITV meeting continuing throughout this week to see who will be offered the chance to be a captain on the famous ITV show. Willoughby shocked fans of the ITV 2 show by revealing that she would be stepping down as team captain after 12-years.
Love Island News: Whitmore The Favourite
Whitmore is the current favourite according to the bookmakers’ odds. The Scot recently hosted the winter edition of Love Island, and is set to keep her role on the dating show when it finally makes its return in 2021. It would highlight a lot of trust from ITV to give Whitmore a prominent role on Celebrity Juice, as she would then be involved in the two biggest shows on the digital channel.
Sources have told various publications that Whitmore is the preferred choice to be team captain, after having been on the show last week. Whitmore left viewers in stitches as she agreed to numerous outrageous games including drinking a glass of wine through a straw while doing a headstand. Should Whitmore get the gig, then she will join Keith Lemon and Mel B as ever-presents on the show.
Love Island News: Younger Demographic Important For Show
The show has been able to evolve since making its debut on ITV back in 2008. The show is hosted by Keith Lemon, who rose to prominence on his hit show Bo Selecta! There have been a number of team captains throughout the show’s history, including Fearne Cotton, Gino D’Acampo and Kelly Brook. Whitmore and Keegan are among the most fancied options due to their ability to attract the younger demographic.
During the show’s run it has been able to attract some of the biggest names in showbiz. Among the A-list stars that have been on Celebrity Juice are Peaches Geldof, Little Mix and Pamela Anderson. A decision on who will be replacing Willoughby will be made in due course. For any other soap opera and entertainment news, please visit Daily Soap Dish.
