Legal Expert Believes Alec Baldwin Should 'Keep His Mouth Shut' Amid Claims The Actor Will Be Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter

A legal expert has given his take on Alec Baldwin in relation to his role in cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ unfortunate death.

As of now, he will be indicted on two counts of involuntary manslaughter, according to the New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney’s office. Hutchins died in 2021, as a result of a discharge from a firearm that Baldwin had in his possession on the set of the movie “Rust”.

Director Joel Souza was also injured in the incident. Similarly, the movie’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, is also being charged with involuntary manslaughter. Meanwhile, assistant director Dave Halls made a decision to accept a plea agreement with the district attorney’s office.

He will be granted a suspended sentence and will serve six months of probation. Halls was charged with the careless usage of a lethal weapon. And given that so many parties are under scrutiny, experts believe that Baldwin may have that in his favour.

Neama Rahmani, who happens to be a former US Attorney, had this to say: “The prosecution will have to prove that Baldwin had a duty to inspect the gun himself…Baldwin will argue that he reasonably relied on Halls’ representation that it was a ‘cold gun.

“The fact that Halls has already agreed to plead guilty means he is likely cooperating with the State against Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed.”

The celebrity is now looking at possibly a year and a half of incarceration and, if convicted of the weapon-related enhancement, he will be subject to a five-year minimum sentence in New Mexico. That is why Baldwin should be wary of what he discloses in public.

Rahmani’s following comments confirmed as much: “He should keep his mouth shut and stop talking. The district attorney clearly wants to make an example of him, so he should stop taking advice from his PR team, get with his lawyers and prepare for trial.”
