In the newly dropped Disney+ series, Pam & Tommy, an electrician is seen callously breaking into the home of newlyweds Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee and making off with a safe containing the couple’s sex tape.
Now that the TV adaptation of the saga, which occurred during the height of Canadian born actress, Anderson’s fame has hit screens, Gauthier is opening up to The Sun, offering up the “real story” which not only includes him insisting he was not the culprit, he’s also kind of affronted by the casting choices the producers made!
Handyman, Rand Gauthier Claims He Didn’t Steal Pamela Anderson Sex Tape; Mob Made Him Take the Rap
Gauthier’s story has the mobbed-up Gambino family at the center of the scandal, with a capo (mob boss) making the electrician an offer he “could not refuse”.
The now 63-year-old claims to have told the capo, “Everyone thinks this is me, I don’t want it on my shoulders” to which the Gambino family member told him that’s exactly where the blame should fall. Though Gauthier wouldn’t elaborate on the deal offered, he told The Sun he accepted.
“I am not in a position to argue with the Gambino family. I am not a thug.”
Though the blame for the leak of what had to have been the world’s first viral internet video fell on Gauthier’s shoulders, he insisted, “The truth is I had nothing to do with stealing the sex tape and I didn’t make one cent from it.”
Gauthier does still feel guilt over the sex tape being distributed far and wide and apologized to the Baywatch star for his bit-part in a “much larger conspiracy.”
The eight-part dramatization, Pam & Tommy stars Lily James as Anderson and Sebastian Stan as rocker, Lee. Seth Rogan depicts Gauthier, which seems to have offended the (mostly) ‘completely innocent’ electrician more than being portrayed as public enemy number one in Anderson, and her fans’ eyes.
“Seth Rogan playing me is like having Marty Feldman play Brad Pitt. I don’t find it flattering. I’m almost 64 and I’m in better shape than he is,” Gauthier complained.
