‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers want to share a brief introduction to Rory Gibson, the new Michael Corinthos (last played by Chad Duell), as he’s officially been placed on a three-year contract with the soap.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Gibson Was A Theater Student In College
After a near-fatal incident in which Michael was almost burned to death in an explosion at Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse, Michael has been recovering at a burn clinic in Germany.
Now, Michael is back and ready to fight for his kids as Willow Tait Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) have been gearing up for an epic custody fight for Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) and Amelia Corinthos (Serenity and Sequoia Mork Macko).
Gibson was born and raised in Long Beach, California. He is the son of former NFL football player Gary Gibson, who played for the San Francisco 49ers.
After high school, he attended Fullerton College. He enrolled in a theater class and found that he really enjoyed it. His theater teacher suggested he pursue an acting career. In 2018, he moved to Los Angeles to try to find acting work.
He described his first screen test for The Young and the Restless as nerve-wracking. However, he said that when Joshua Morrow, who plays Nick Newman, and Cait Fairbanks, who plays Tessa Porter, walked into the room, his nerves settled as their energy was very “cool and calming.”
Gibson admitted to Soap Opera Digest that during his Y&R screen test, he flubbed his line. However, Josh (Morrow) saved him. “Without even thinking, he turned around and said, ‘That was my fault, sorry guys.”
From 2021 to 2023, he played Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Nick’s son, Noah Newman, on Y&R. Gibson took over the role from Robert Adamson. Ironically, Adamson himself subbed for Duell as Michael on several occasions.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michael Is Back With A Thirst For Vengeance
On a personal level, Gibson has been engaged to the love of his life, Alicia Ruelas, since October 2022. They have been a couple for fourteen years, as they were high-school sweethearts.
Gibson made his General Hospital debut on May 23rd. His first scene was very intense. Michael has returned to Port Charles from Germany.
Michael was seen toward the end of the Nurses Ball as he walked into the room. He arrived after Wiley performed his number with the rest of the kids, “I’ll Be There.”
Wiley shouted out into the audience, “Daddy!” and Michael didn’t hesitate for a second as he scooped up his son and said, “Ok, buddy, let’s go home.”
Everyone present in the ballroom to witness this was shocked. Including his parents, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), and mob boss Sonny.
Michael is back with a thirst for vengeance, as he’s in no mood to mess around. Willow and Drew betrayed him in the worst way imaginable. He’s not going to let them get away with it.
If Willow thinks Michael is going to stand by and allow Drew to replace him as a father figure in Wiley and Amelia’s lives, she needs to come to reality. Willow and Drew are in for the fight of their lives. This will be the custody battle of the year.
