‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal that some fans feel that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) should have been redeemed after he was shot and survived a near death experience.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Drew’s Shooting Could Have Led To An Epiphany
While Cameron Mathison certainly plays a good villain, some viewers claim that the who shot Drew who dun it could have been Drew’s chance to become more self-aware.
Drew could have actually stopped for a minute and thought about the fact that he angered someone enough for them to fire two bullets in his back.
Often, when someone has an experience like that, it allows them to reflect on their own behavior and how it may have contributed to someone being so fed up with them that they tried to take them out.
Instead, he awakened the same despicable character he was before the shooting. Other fans on social media think the story lacked a payoff since Drew survived.
Historically, when a soap has a character as awful as Drew, they have no choice but to either kill them off or write a believable redemption arc for them.
Even Cameron Mathison is having a difficult time defending his on-screen alter ego’s choices. The former good guy and Willow’s alleged hero just becomes increasingly more deplorable as time goes on.

On Days of Our Lives, when EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerreigel) was shot, he awakened from his coma and at least attempted to clean the slate and become a better man.
EJ’s epiphany lasted all of about four episodes, but at least there was some self-reflection on his part, and an attempt was made to break with the past and make some changes.
If someone is furious enough to shoot a person in the back twice, it’s time for that person to perhaps reevaluate their life choices.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: No Satisfying Comeuppance For The Viewers
Plus, there was no satisfying comeuppance for Drew. Fans wanted to see Drew finally get what he deserved. Even if he had simply been paralyzed, that would have been some kind of consequence for him.
The outcome from the shooting is that Drew is still as villainous and as toxic as he ever was. With as bold as Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) has been about breaking the rules, she could have made sure that Drew was paralyzed.
Remember, Portia was the one who performed the surgery that saved his miserable life. Drew didn’t even have the humility it would require to care enough to thank her for it.
Additionally, even if Willow really did try to murder him, he doesn’t seem to care. Drew’s inflated ego has to believe that Willow didn’t pull the trigger, but she was still arrested for the crime.
As of now, we don’t know who did it. Willow may very well also be a red herring in this situation. She may not have shot Drew.
Still, she’s gone back to him because Drew promised her that he would frame Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) so that she could get her kids back. It’s one diabolical scheme after the next.
It’s obvious that Drew and Willow are the least self-aware characters in soap land. Hopefully, there will be some kind of shocking plot twist in the story that makes Drew’s who dun it worth it in the end.
