‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) Paranoia Over Who to Trust is a Bigger Risk Than Sonny

There have been some interesting moments that have made ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers scratch our heads for some questionable choices by the writers, and there is a chance there’s a method to their madness.

At least, that’s what we’re hoping for given how fanatic Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) has been to bring down Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve seen the writers rewrite their own history amid backlash from fans wanting the old writers back, or even better the replacement writers.

Let’s face it, the replacement writers were the best out of the three by far.

The show had a better flow and the characters didn’t change their views from one breath to another as a different piece of pasta stuck to the wall.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Anna’s neo-McCarthyism towards Dante

In many ways, Anna’s constant questioning of Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) over his loyalty to his father or his job, and her gas lighting him into staying so she can keep an eye on him is questionable.

Dante’s record speaks for itself, but all she can see is a family bond and she’s shown she’s not above using Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) to spy, after she questioned him about his thoughts on Dante.

This cam after she encouraged him and then did everything in her power to get him on the police force to use him against Sonny, and Dex wanted to prove himself to Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), so that gaslighting worked to a charm.

Sure, they’ve changed their stories recently, but the fact is that’s why they did what they did and why they’re still doing it.

Her claims that Dex and Dante being on the police force will give them protection or keep them from falling under Sonny’s influence is weak at best, and her paranoia and manipulation will be her eventual downfall.

In fact, she’s a bigger risk than Sonny.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Ignoring all other threats

While Anna is also looking into Valentine Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) about his possible Pikeman connections, she’s so focused on Sonny she’s missed a few things.

The biggest being that the flowers Valentin sent her appear to be bugged.

It’s something ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers didn’t think of until the show made a point of focusing on them while Anna and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) were talking openly.

The scene made it look like she was focused on the flowers like she realized something was amiss and walked over to them, only to continue dishing sensitive information with Jason Valentin shouldn’t have heard.

Give the general fan backlash over the way things have been handled, it looks like the writers are trying to alter course a little, but is it too late or will another soft reboot be coming?

What do you think about Anna’s paranoia? Let us know in the comments below and check back with ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
