General Hospital recap for Friday, May 17 is all about the annual Nurses Ball as Nina Reeves shares the red carpet with fashion editor Sydney Val Jean (Chandra Wilson). Drama is definitely going rule the event, with a lot of enemies occupying the same space. If you missed how the ball kicked off, let’s get to your General Hospital recap.
General Hospital Recap Friday: Nurses Ball Loaded With Drama, Shiloh To Get Taken Down Publicly By Antagonistic Maxie?
General Hospital (GH) spoilers: Explosive ending
Before we get to the fun in Port Charles, let’s go back to Canada a moment, where Laura Webber (Genie Francis) and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) are tied up back-to-back in the house Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) has been hiding out in. The pair is trying to figure a way out of this when Laura smells gas in the cabin. She realizes that Ryan intends for her to die the same way he supposedly did once, and tells Curtis. Their efforts go up a notch, and they manage to get loose. They’re just about off the porch when an explosion knocks Laura and Curtis off the feet. We’ll have to wait and see how they made out.

General Hospital (GH) spoilers: Red carpet fail
Let’s just say it right now: Nina is a total disappointment on the red carpet, as her personal feelings about Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) and others color her behavior on camera. Her co-host is the MVP here, as she has to bail Nina out a couple of times and keep things going. Our personal favorite moment was when Nina has to leave Sydney alone a minute. She says, “I thought she’d never leave,” before launching into talk about her dress.
If there was one really good, touching moment today, it came from Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard). He’d been a bit negative about going to the ball, because it always makes him think of Stone Cates (Michael Sutton). Our co-host mentions that he has a personal connection to this event, and Sonny talks about what a blessing it is to be there.
Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) doesn’t do so well at one point herself. Her duty for the night is to live tweet from the red carpet, snapping pics of the guests and chatting with them. When Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) approach, she is less than friendly and says that she’d just shut the live tweeting down. Yes, this is already shaping up to be a fun, care-free night…

General Hospital (GH) spoilers: Intervention
Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Kevin Collins are on a mission tonight: lure out his evil twin. Unfortunately, they have a bit of a problem with this. Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) are not pleased to see these two together. Lucy has someone approach Kevin about a medical emergency there in order to lure him away from Ava. And we really have to wonder at Kevin’s falling for this. In a room full of nurses—and doctors like Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton)—he seriously thought that a psychologist was going to be sought out?
Meanwhile, Ava is grabbed by Scott, whole tells her this is for her own good. She’s led to a room, where Ava looks surprised at what she sees when the door opens.
General Hospital spoilers: Bad company
Shiloh’s presence at the ball is a problem for more reasons than one. Not only is Maxie obviously aware of Shiloh’s true nature and not hiding her animosity, but Willow is there, too. She looks legit freaked out to see him, but Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) tells her she is safe here.
The biggest problem, though, might come from a certain humble coffee importer. Shiloh has the balls to approach him, inquiring about how Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) is doing. He informs Shiloh she’s doing a lot better now, and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) thinks Shiloh should be too confident in her return. Shiloh makes an allusion to that pledge of Kristina’s, and Sonny responds with a poorly veiled threat about how his philosophy is “Family first always—at any cost.”
