Robert O’Neill, who happens to be the man credited with killing Osama Bin Laden, has blasted Senator Lindsey Graham over his recent comments on the Russia-Ukraine war.

The senator had generated a lot of backlash, when he suggested that the way to stop the conflict from escalating any further was for somebody in Russia to assassinate their President Vladimir Putin.
While it is not clear whether Graham’s comments were in jest, they did nevertheless receive a lot of backlash from other politicians including Senator Ted Cruz. In a statement at the time, Lindsey said: “The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out.
“You would be doing your country – and the world – a great service.” Those comments did not sit very well with Robert, who happened to be in the know of such matters, given that he was responsible for tracking down one of the world’s most wanted men in the form of Bin Laden.
Instead, O’Neill felt that it would be more effective to contribute to the work that was already going on behind the scenes in order to put pressure on the Russian regime.
This would include things such as economic sanctions, as well as the various organisations that have put in place measures preventing people with ties to the Russian government from participating such as the Cannes Film Festival.
TMZ confirmed as much: “Graham shouldn’t have made those comments. He notes Graham’s a part of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and believes the Senator should be using those backdoor channels to get the work done instead of talking about it on news TV.”
Nevertheless. O’Neill was heavily criticised on social media. This was on the basis that he had been involved in an assasiation himself, through Bin Laden, therefore his comments on Putin were contradictory.
One person wrote: “Gosh, when turd buckets like Robert O’Neill thinks @LindseyGrahamSC is wrong, how can you be….” Something clearly needs to be done to stop the Russia-Ukraine war.
