Demi Lovato has revealed that she has learnt more about her sexuality during the course of her relationships. The singer’s love life has been well-publicised, but it now seems she is comfortable with who she is.

In an interview with Glamour, Demi hinted that she might best be suited to finding someone of the same sex. She said: “When I started getting older, I started realizing how queer I really am. This past year I was engaged to a man, and when it didn’t work, I was like, ‘This is a huge sign.’ I thought I was going to spend my life with someone. Now that I wasn’t going to, I felt this sense of relief that I could live my truth.”

This may have been partly due to her split with Max Ehrich. After all, they had only been engaged for a matter of two months before Demi had a change of heart. Although it could be said that Demi was not ready for a relationship, following her substance abuse issues, there is no denying her following comments.

She added: “Some of the guys I was hanging out with — when it would come time to be sexual or intimate, I would have this kind of visceral reaction. I just found myself really appreciating the friendships of those people more than the romance, and I didn’t want the romance from anybody of the opposite sex.”

Demi clearly knows what she is looking for. And yet, she has stopped short of defining what her sexuality is. That is for obvious reasons, given the natural media intrusion that would follow. Instead, Demi is choosing to stay true to herself. She continued: “I know who I am and what I am, but I’m just waiting until a specific timeline to come out to the world as what I am.

“I’m following my healers’ timeline, and I’m using this time to really study and educate myself on my journey and what I’m preparing to do.” It is good to see Demi being comfortable with herself, and it should not be too long before she finds her special someone.
