‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers find that star Marci Miller is now back on our screens as Abigail after several months of ‘getting space’ from husband Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn). In reality, Marci was on a surprise maternity leave, with fans not knowing the new mom was pregnant until she posted daughter, Willet’s birth announcement!
Now Marci is opening up about being a first time mom, her reliance on Google and how she feels about returning to set.
“It was a very steep learning curve for me,” Marci admitted about becoming a mother, explaining that she was never around babies much until she had her own. In fact, the first diaper she changed was on a friend’s baby while Marci was pregnant.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Star Marci Miller (Abigail Devereaux) Uses Google to Learn How to Parent
‘It’s been a lot of Googling,” the soap star continued, “a lot of watching classes and things.”
However, Marci isn’t alone in figuring parenthood out.
“My husband took time off of work, as well, so we were able to have four hands on deck full-time and just really pore over this little person.
For Marci, her time off work has come to an end, and returning to a job she loves is a double-edged sword. “On one hand, it’s really great to reclaim those parts of your identity and have some moments to myself. But then I miss her. I miss being at home.”
Being a mom now, Marci feels she’s better able to connect to Abigail’s parenting side, saying she’s now “crazy sensitive” to all things pertaining children and she believes her new experience as a mom will make her a better actress and she can portray her character more authentically.
While her perspective and priorities toward work vs. family have changed, Marci has plenty of support from other moms on the DOOL set, specifically citing Mary Beth Evans (Kayla Johnson) and Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) as being fountains of knowledge.
All in all, Marci sounds like she is a very happy mom-of one, gushing “On the connection/emotional side, it’s just so fulfilling.”
Congratulations again, Marci, but we’re also glad to have you, and Chabby back!
