‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers confirm that Al Calderon, who has played Javi Hernandez since October 2024, is being replaced in the role.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Calderon Has Been Cast On “Brilliant Minds”
Calderon has the opportunity to play a character on the prime-time show, “Brilliant Minds.” The actor will be a series regular.
Calderon is set to play Nurse Scotty Silva, who is said to be the mayor of Bronx General, which is the fictional hospital on the show.
However, fans of Javi will be happy to know that there is much more story to tell for Javi. We will still see Calderon until May 2026 due to Days unorthodox filming schedule.
Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) and Rafe Hernandez’s (Galen Gering) cousin will have a different face come late spring.
During an interview with Soap Opera Digest in February this year, Calderon praised his Days family.
“I’ve got the two best given family members I could ever ask for. Cherie and Galen are literally my family now. Sorry guys, I ain’t going nowhere. You’re stuck with the kid.”
He spoke about how his Days family embraced him from the start,
“While I’m responsible for how I show up, they’ve really shown up for me, too. Their openness, their willingness to play and have fun scenes together, it created this real, historic family feel.”
Javi’s storyline will continue after Calderon leaves the Peacock soap. Right now, Javi and his boyfriend, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) are unknowingly fostering Sophia Choi’s (Rachel Boyd) baby, whom they named Tesoro.

DOOL’s fans have taken a shine to Javi and Leo’s romance. The two of them got off to a rocky start, but they have become a committed and very special couple in Salem
Javi has helped Leo overcome his troublemaking and scandalous ways. Leo and Javi are very much in love. Fans are wondering if Javi and Leo will adopt Tesoro only to have Sophia change her mind about keeping her son.
Right now, Leo and Javi aren’t aware of the fact that they are caring for Sophia’s child. Sophia’s current decision to give up her baby may change.
However, right now, Sophia fears someone might figure out that Tesoro is her baby, especially since he’s half- Asian.
She’s closely guarding her secret and has resolved to move on with her life. However, it’s possible that someday soon, Leo and Javi, or someone else will realize that Tesoro belongs to Sophia.
In the meantime, Leo and Javi are relishing their time with the baby, and growing very attached to him.
We suspect this could lead to some heartbreak down the road as Sophia could decide that she wants her baby back.
If Amy Choi (Shi Ne Nielson) finds out the truth about Tesoro, forget it. She’ll definitely retrieve her grandchild and if Sophia won’t raise him, she will. Leo and Javi may be on borrowed time with Tesoro.
Calderon noted that it meant a great deal to him playing Javi on Days and the chance to portray a gay character.
“It’s a big responsibility but I feel honored to be able to be part of something that might change someone’s perspective.”
