Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Hire UK-Based Brand Manager To Help Them Repair Their Hideous Public Image

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have hired many new faces to their team. Charlie Gipson, who has managed PR campaigns for Instagram and Samsung, will be the Sussexes’ new UK contact and Director of Communications. He will work alongside their US-based PR team.

Gipson is said to have “excelled in media relations and strategic communication planning.” Former United Talent Agency corporate communications manager Kyle Boulia will be Harry and Meghan’s Deputy Press Secretary.

Harry And Meghan Shouldn’t Have Hired UK-Based Gipson

It may not be a wise move for the couple. The Sussex’s new hire, Gipson, has no tabloid media experience. Royal reporter Charles Griffiths said, “He’s going to be eaten by the wolves. I think it’s a surprise appointment and not in a good way.”

Gipson is the first UK-based hire for the Sussexes since they left Britain. The Duke and Duchess shouldn’t have hired him, as they decided their brand building would take place in California.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties in January 2020 and eventually settled in sunny Montecito with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

They were offered a multi-million dollar deal with streaming giant Netflix, and Meghan had her podcast show, Archetypes, with Spotify, which ended in disaster.

Spotify fired them, and executive Bill Simmons called the couple “f***ing grifters” and said that he couldn’t wait to get drunk and tell the story of his phone chat with Harry as the Duke was trying to come up with ideas for the show.

The Duchess has since signed a deal with Lemonada Media, which will feature her Archetypes show. Meghan recently launched her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchards.

Harry and Meghan are trying desperately to repair their damaged reputations. Their rift with the royal family proved harmful to their public image, both as a couple and individually.

Gipson Lacks The Experience To Help Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

This move likely shows their desire to spend more time across the pond in a feeble attempt to mend their broken relationship with the royal family.

Repairing their negative reputations will be no easy task. Gipson doesn’t have the experience to dig the couple out of the gutter. He would have to move mountains to fix this mess.

Crisis PR consultant Mark Borkowski said it’s no surprise that Meghan is working with a consumer products expert to assist her in selling her jam. However,

“rebranding Meghan to appeal to British audiences is one of the most difficult jobs in PR.”

Not to mention, Harry and Meghan have a high turnover with their PR advisors. Employees constantly leave them, and rumors have been rampant that Meghan mistreats her staff.

The couple have also done a 180 and have decided they are willing to keep communication open between them and the British tabloids.

The UK press is supposedly why Harry and Meghan left England for greener pastures. The Sussexes elected not to keep any of their UK staff when they moved to the US.

“Keeping the lines of communications open”

With the British tabloids is a strategic and well-thought-out PR move. Harry and Meghan are desperate to improve their image, but unfortunately, they may not succeed.
