‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers suggest that Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Benard) mental health is in jeopardy as he is close to a major nervous breakdown.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Valentin Switched Sonny’s Meds with Placebos
Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) switched Sonny’s meds with placebos, and even Ava Jerome (Maura West) noticed something was off when she took a couple of Sonny’s bipolar pills.
It was a strange and uncomfortable scene to watch. To see Ava suddenly thinking it was a good idea to take lithium to help her sleep was disturbing but to each their own.
Ava could tell that the pills didn’t work. Whether she’s in on this scheme somehow remains to be seen. But she’s definitely up to something.
Recently, Sonny went to Corinthos Coffee to confront Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) about why he took over his office and to potentially determine whether or not Jason really tried to kill him.
When Jason said to Sonny that if he were truly trying to kill him, he wouldn’t have missed, that should have been the end of it, but Sonny persisted.
The dimpled don warned Jason that he would be eliminated without a second thought if he ever tried to cross him. Jason’s first reaction was:
“Are you taking your meds?”
Sonny replied that he was taking his pills faithfully, but the look on Jason’s face said that something wasn’t right.
The people closest to Sonny are realizing that Sonny is angrier and more vengeful than normal. Something else may be boiling underneath the surface besides placebo pills.
Valentin is counting on Sonny to have a nervous breakdown, and if Sonny doesn’t figure out what’s going on soon, the situation could very well escalate, with him ending up as a patient at Ferncliff.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sonny Is Going Off the Rails
The conniving Cassadine needs Sonny to lose his cool because he isn’t cooperating with Pikeman.
Ava has also been encouraging Sonny to drink. He knows he probably shouldn’t, but he enjoys Ava’s company at his penthouse and doesn’t care.
Sonny drinking on or off his meds is a poor decision. He can’t handle himself, and that’s obvious. If the rift between Sonny and Jason doesn’t heal, will Jason pay the price for Sonny’s meds not working?
It may have even been an intended consequence for Valentin to drive a wedge between Sonny and Jason. If Valentin somehow knows about Jason’s involvement with the FBI and that he’s trying to take down Pikeman, he will retaliate, and it won’t be pretty.
In the meantime, Sonny is going off the rails. He is starting not to be able to determine the difference between his own paranoid mind and reality.
What happens if Sonny hurts the wrong person? Someone like Jason would be an easy mark for Sonny’s pent-up aggression. He wouldn’t take it out on Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) because that’s not his style.
Many GH fans are speculating about what else could be wrong with Sonny. One fan posted on Soap Central’s message board that perhaps he has residual brain damage from falling off the bridge or the beams falling on him during the fire at the Tan-O. One thing is for sure: Sonny is quickly spiraling out of control.
