‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Star Christian LeBlanc Announces His Cancer is In Remission and He’s Ready to Return to Work

In a case of life imitating art, Christian LeBlanc (playing Michael Baldwin on ‘The Young and the Restless’) was diagnosed with cancer, and he recently did an interview on the New Orleans news station 4WWL.

He explained that in June he had multiple myeloma – blood plasma cancer, a disease that spreads quickly if not diagnosed and treated early.

What’s really cool about this is the fans caught it after they noticed something was wrong with his left eye. As it turned out, he had a tumor by his sinuses that put pressure on the optical nerve.

“The fans caught it. I was getting people saying, ‘Your eye’s a little Jim Carrey that way.’”

‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Signs adding up

There were other signs on set he was noticing but couldn’t figure out like weight loss that caused his wedding ring to fall off his finger without any hesitation and occasional nose bleeds.

He talked about that and because of his eye going “wonky” he went for an eye exam and that’s how the disease was caught.

“They put my wedding ring on, Lauren and Michael’s wedding ring, and I put my hand down and the ring fell off without friction I said, ‘Well, what an odd thing.’ My nose started bleeding on set. Sometimes this eye kind of got a little wonky, because there was a tumor in the sinus cavity. If I hadn’t gone in for an eye exam, it might have progressed more. It’s a very fast cancer and that is the danger of it.”

Prior to his diagnosis as Santa Monica’s Providence Saint John’s Health Center, he said he never spent a day in the hospital in his 65 years.

‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Returning to work

While it was an understandably stressful time, he followed the doctor’s order, especially when it cam to eating after he lost 35 pounds in two months.

“My doctors said, ‘Eat like it’s your job,’ and I said, ‘I was raised to fulfill this promise. Louisiana, New Orleans, easily done.'”

With the disease in remission, he’s returned to work and we’ll see him return on this year’s Thanksgiving Day episode as the Fisher family will return and we get treated to hearing what they’ve been up to.

‘Young and the Restless’ love this and think it’s awesome news on so many levels, but mainly because we love happy endings. This also marks the second star of the show to have recently battled cancer with Eric Braeden now cancer free as well.
