Prince Harry refuted allegations that the Royal Family was being accused of racism during the startling TV interview with Oprah Winfrey that he and Meghan Markle had.

Prince Harry Denies Claims That Meghan Called The Royal Family Racists-Prefers The Term ‘Subconscious Bias’

The Duke of Sussex stated that Meghan’s mention of a family member expressing ‘troubling’ views concerning the complexion of Archie was an issue of ‘unconscious bias’, not racism. Harry declared that the situation with Ngozi Fulani and Lady Susan Hussey was a clear demonstration of the atmosphere that exists within the firm.

The latter had stepped down from her duties after she allegedly continued to ask Fulani where she was from during an engagement. While Hussey, who is Prince William’s godmother, did apologise since that incident, it nevertheless left a huge mark on the way the firm was perceived.

With that being said, Harry wanted to make it clear in no uncertain terms that the Sussexes did not accuse the Royal Family of being racist. In his comments with ITV’s Tom Bradby, Harry said: “Did Meghan ever mention that they’re racist.

“The difference between racism and unconscious bias, the two things are different. But once it’s been acknowledged, or pointed out to you as an individual, or as an institution, that you have unconscious bias, you therefore have an opportunity to learn and grow.

“Otherwise unconscious bias then moves into the category of racism.” The response on social media was one of outrage. A certain subset of people were of the view that this was an attempt by the Sussexes to minimise the damage that had been done by the Oprah Winfrey interview.

One person wrote: “It was said by them now he’s trying to turn it around.. The[ir] wanting back into the rf but does the public want them.” If Harry’s comments go some way to improving the way that things are dealt with in the firm, then that can only be a good thing.
