When Moriah Plath refused to do the dishes, her brother Ethan decided to pull a pretty awful prank on her. A prank that was really cruel, and if you think about it, really controlling. Does anybody remember that part in Twilight where Edward Cullen messes with Bella Swan’s car in order to keep her from going anywhere?
Ethan pulled a version of that by pulling the sparkplugs in Moriah’s car, causing it not to start, Moriah got mad, stormed back in, and said, “I don’t care anymore!” and fled to her room. Thankfully, Olivia made Ethan go and put the sparkplugs back so that Moriah could leave the house. My, my, where did he learn that little power move from?

Ethan can whine all he wants about Kim and Barry being controlling but that is a hell of a move to pull on someone who is of legal age and who isn’t your daughter. He treated Moriah like a child, he disciplined her like a child, and it took Olivia going to bat for Moriah to let him know that that was not okay.
Sure, it was a prank, but at the end of the day it still leaves us with a rather bad taste in our mouths, especially those of us in the audience who were under the impression that Ethan was non-toxic and not controlling… well, now it seems we’ve seen another side of him come out.
Moriah had every right to be mad, she’s grieving at the moment and while it may be inconvenient for everyone else, grief never did work on anyone else’ schedule except for its own. While Ethan still doesn’t know the details of what happened, he still knew that Max and Moriah weren’t together and she wasn’t happy and what he did may have been funny to him, but he was the only one who was laughing.
It makes us wonder what on earth kind of measures the Plath parents used to keep Ethan in line back in the day, no wonder he has so many issues if it was anything to that level. Yike! He fixed it, but maybe he needs to do some more inner work. Ahem. Stay tuned!!!
