Naomi Judd passed away last week and it shocked the world. Not only that, it shocked her family as well. Multiple sources are now confirming that she died from suicide. The 76 year old country singer had a very long battle with mental illness and her daughters mentioned that at the Country Music Hall of Fame induction.
There are always rumors surrounding celebrity deaths, but with all of the sources now reporting that her death was a suicide, it has been even harder on her fans and family.
Celebs: The Mental Health Struggles
Ashley Judd was quick to post on Instagram when the news of her death went viral. She posted, “Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.”
Celebs: Naomi Judd’s Cause of Death
Naomi’s husband also made a statement about Naomi’s death. He said, “Naomi Judd’s family requests privacy during this heartbreaking time. No additional information will be released at this time.” Naomi has always been an advocate for mental illness and she even wrote a letter for Mental Health Awareness Week back in 2018.
It read, “For everyone mourning the death of someone who committed suicide, an inevitable question arises: why did this happen? Unfortunately, we don’t have very good answers. We do know that suicidal behavior accompanies many behavioral brain disorders such a schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. Suicide is actually one of the leading causes of preventable death among these mental illnesses.”
The letter went on, “To understand this issue better, we have to bring the study of suicide into mainstream neuroscience and treat the condition like every other brain disorder. People who commit suicide are experiencing problems with mood, impulse control and aggressive, all of which involve discrete circuits in the brain that regulate these aspects of human experience, but we still don’t understand how these circuits go haywire in the brains of suicide victims.”
Naomi’s death really has shaken the world of country music and it has been hard for her daughters and her family. We will continue to monitor the other sources that have released information that Naomi committed suicide. It is heartbreaking for everyone involved and we hope that her family takes time to grieve and heal in all of this.
