Mark Zuckerberg Known As “The Eye of Sauron” By Meta Employees

In a recent interview, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, formerly known as Facebook, said that among his team members he is known as “The Eye of Sauron” which is a little amusing but one has to wonder – did he even watch Lord of the Rings?

Being compared to Sauron is not the thing you want to be compared to especially if you have a team of people working under you. What does that make the rest of Meta employees, Orcs? If we’re going by pure LOTR mythology here then Orcs used to be Elves who were tormented on such a level that they literally changed form and became Orcs.

What does that say about being employed by Meta, then?!

Then again, this is only if we’re applying the full LOTR mythos here. We have heard things in the past however about how content moderators on facebook were forced to watch hours and hours of gruesome content and were denied mental health care afterwards causing facebook to have to pay $52M in a settlement back in 2020.

Wow, this was pre-pandemic too! So if one is indeed going by the full LOTR metaphor then the comparison does kind of work, but so far only for content moderators. We can’t really confirm or deny anything from the rest of the team, but still…

The Eye of Sauron” is not really the flex that Zuckerbeg thinks it is. This just means that the team thinks that he oversees a lot of the mental/emotional trauma that goes on in the workplace and essentially does nothing which is kind of horrifying if one gives it enough thought.

Then again, who hasn’t had a boss like that though? We get it, a CEO can’t be everywhere at once and he can’t be resposible for everyone’s actions and sometimes the way supervisors interpret things are decidedly bad.

However… it speaks to a bigger problem within the workplace if he does indeed see and know all that’s going on around him and is still thought of as “The Eye of Sauron” then… something may need to change. Stay tuned!!!
