With the crisis in Ukraine happening as we speak, many 90 Day Fiancé cast members have found themselves in a lot of emotional turmoil. One cast member, David Murphey has reached out to his ex-fiancé, Lana amid all of the fighting. The spin-off, 90 Day Diaries did a special episode to focus on those who are being affected by the crisis and he was one of the cast members that had a very strong opinion on what is going on right now.
90 Day Fiancé: David And Lana
David has always had a love for Ukraine and the women who live there. His relationship with Lana was very shaky, but he really did care about her. They ended up breaking up and he told his fans that they hadn’t spoken in quite some time. He recently reached out to her during the war and wanted to know if she was safe and if there was anything that he could do to help her.
90 Day Fiancé: David Murphey and Lana Are Back In Touch
According to David, Lana is in hiding. He told the cameras, “Since the war broke out, Lana and I have been able to get in touch. She’s amid all the bombs going off in Kyiv but the last time I heard, Lana’s in hiding so I think she’s OK. Right now, I won’t fear the worst.”
Not only did David share this about Lana, but the 63-year-old also shared that he has signed up to become a foreign fighter to help out the people of Ukraine. He did spend three years in the army, but he has never been in combat. He said that he has been conditioning himself by going on runs and doing some target training, but we are not too sure that they will want the help of someone his age.
David went on to say, “Ukraine is like my second home. I’ve talked to many friends who are over there, and it sickens me to see the destruction that is going on in cities that I knew very well. I have a close connection to Ukraine, and I want to go help defend it. I will not sit back and watch Ukraine get destroyed. I’m 63 years old and people say that’s too old to fight. Is it really? To defend your country or to defend your land, is any age too old? I can certainly pick up a rifle to shoot. I do know that there’s a huge risk that I could lose my life. But, I don’t even think about it, really. That’s how much I’m motivated to do this.”
