Kylen Schulte and her wife, Crystal Turner, were murdered in Moab, Utah, around the Porcupine Rim area in 2021. At first, it was suspected that whomever was responsible for, at the time, the disappearance of Gabby Petito might have also been responsible for their murders as well.
Then there was information saying that the two cases were unrelated and that it was probably a totally different person that killed the couple – but now there’s new information, information that says that if Brian Laundrie can be placed in Moab at the time of the death of Kylen Schulte and Crystal Turner, that he couldn’t actually be ruled out as a suspect.
Private Investigator unable to rule out possible Brian Laundrie connection in Moab Murders
Granted, Brian Laundrie is only one of 17 possible suspects in this particular murder case. The private investigator, Jason Jensen, says that the other suspects could have possibly left the area by now.
The person of interest whom they had originally thought might have been responsible for the murder, the person who dropped the keys near the crime scene said that he did indeed lose keys near there, but was not actually associated with the crime in any way.
He simply lost keys in that particular spot and they had his gym membership attached to them. He lost the keys on the 20th, which is roughly a week after Kylen and Crystal were murdered, so he’s not the guy.
Jason Jensen, the private investigator, is asking if anyone potentially has any gopro or dashcam footage of the Moab area or just south of Moab, specifically LaSalle Loop Road, Warner Lake, and Porcupine Rim from August 11-13th, they are checking the footage for the vehicle of the person in question that murdered Kylen and Crystal, a person that is simply known as “The Creeper Guy” by anyone familiar with the case.
The new information received was that on the 13th they were seen at Woody’s Tavern in Moab, Utah. However when they left the Tavern they went to a friend’s house, a married couple with kids and stayed until about 12AM, midnight.
They would not have returned to their campsite in the wee hours of the morning on the 14th and their time of death is estimated to have been during the night of the 14th and 5:30AM on the 15th.
Both Kylen and Crystal had work shift starting at 6AM on the 16th of August, which would have been on a Monday, neither one of them came in or called, that was when someone tipped off the father of Kylen Schulte, John Paul Schulte and he got the police involved.
The PI currently does not believe it to be a hate crime, since the area where they were is largely accepting of the LGBT community, but they can’t exactly rule it out either.
It has also been speculated that the victims could have been sexually assaulted because of their lack of pants, but then again, some people don’t sleep in pants and when they returned home it would have been after midnight.
We do know that their deaths were really brutal, the details the PI gave was that he thought there was only one killer, and that Kylen was killed first, possibly dragged from her bed, Crystal went next and was chased down because her body was found a little further away from the campsite.
When John Paul Schulte set up a ‘clue box’ in the park in Moab for people to put tips inside leading to any information on their murder, someone came by and put a 9mm bullet casing on the table. When this was done, Mr. Schulte was not asking questions, he was depending on people to come forward and just put whatever tips they had in the clue box.
Either way, the 9mm bullet casing was not the manner of how the women died, so one really wonders if that wasn’t a threat of some kind. An interesting bit of information is that at one point, Gabby Petito had mentioned wanting to visit Porcupine Rim, where Kylen and Crystal would lose their life, so Brian Laundrie was aware of this location… but was he ever there?
Also, it still begs the question, since they think that Gabby possibly died on the 27th of August… if all theories are true, then, what did she know? Stay tuned!
