NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers reveal the possession thing has been a big story for DOOL. While some have praised returning to it, others haven’t been as kind. But whatever people think of the story, it was apparently destined to happen. Let’s take a look at what secrets were revealed in a new interview with Soap Opera Digest.

So, first we gotta give credit where it’s due. ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers indicate they made a bold and good choice by having Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) be the vessel for evil in town. The big reveal was a huge shock for us, because we were expecting something so different out of Doug’s situation. That was apparently the intent.
Head writer Ron Carlivati had an interesting task at hand. In the interview, he discussed some of the challenges of doing the story today. Particularly with having Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) once more be possessed. While he was trying to figure out it, apparently his mind went to an unexpected choice. And a great opportunity for him.
Said Carlivati about his thought process after settling on Doug, “I know what I’m going to do. I want to try to trick people into thinking we were doing a dementia storyline and then the twist would be no, he’s just addled because the devil is inside him.”

He fooled us. ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers indicate it all started with Doug locking Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) in a freezer and walking away. This was followed by several incidents where he forgot names and got inappropriate with Paulina Price (Jackée Harry). We were convinced this was going to be a farewell story so the actor could enjoy a well-deserved retirement. It turned out, there was anything but that on their minds.
He spoke about reaching out to the couple to see what they thought of the story. “It was a lot to put on Bill. Here he is, 96 years old and we’re asking him to put glowing contact lenses into his eyes.”
He had nothing to worry about, though, as he reveals, “He and Susan were so game and excited, as was Diedre when the idea was pitched to her.” So, what else did they reveal?

As for the future of the story, Carlivati promised that long-time fans will be especially pleased when they see what’s ahead, as they’ll get a serious dose of nostalgia coming. From what he described, it sounds like Johnny DiMera’s (Carson Boatman) movie will be a huge part of that.
