Gabby Petito’s Memorial Removed Outside of Brian Laundrie’s Family Home

It appears as though everyone just wants to move on, for better or for worse. There’s a new report that says the Gabby Petito memorial that her fans created outside of Chris and Roberta Laundrie’s home has been removed. The skeletal remains of their son, Brian Laundrie, were identified last week after being found in a nature preserve not too far away from the Laundrie home in North Port, Florida. Here’s what you need to know.

According to reports, North Port city officials came to the Laundrie home this week to remove a memorial which drew a lot of fans and onlookers to the area. Apparently, the signs violated city codes Sec. 29-7 relating to prohibited signs, Sec. 42-23 relating to the accumulation of debris and Sec. 42-24 relating to stormwater drainage.

“Ahead of severe weather today, the City of North Port has received several complaints about signs located on Wabasso Ave,” city spokesman Josh Taylor told Fox News Digital in a Thursday statement. “Per City Sign Code and storm water code, these signs are in violation and are not allowed in the road right-of-way.”

Meanwhile, a separate report says that Brian was “visibly upset” the last time that he was seen alive. According to Steven Bertolino, he told NBC news that Brian’s father, Chris Laundrie, had begged his son to stay home. He said that Chris “conveyed to be several times that he wished he hasn’t let him go.”

“Brian was very upset when he left,” Bertolino explained, to NBC news, adding that Chris Laundrie, “conveyed to me several times that he wished he hadn’t let him go, but he couldn’t stop him.”

“Getting the news that your child is no longer with you is sad, under any circumstances,” Bertolino continued. “The fact that the Laundries have been subjected to these people out in front of their house the last four weeks, and they continue out there today, makes it all the more difficult.”

A nationwide manhunt for Brian Laundrie — named a person of interest in the case — began last month. Gabby Petito’s cause of death was strangulation, and the manner of death was homicide. The 22-year-old was reported missing and found dead after she and her boyfriend Brian Laundrie embarked on a country-wide road trip this past summer.
