Meredith Marks was left feeling shocked after Jennifer Shah’s arrest was caught on film during the second season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.

Jennifer, for her part, had been apprehended after allegations emerged that she was involved in telemarketing fraud. While a trial is still ongoing, the chances of Jennifer ever making a return to the show look to be over.
This is especially if she is to be convicted. That is why Meredith could not believe that filming continued. In an interview on the ‘Getting Real with the Housewives’ podcast she said: “I can’t fathom any attorney advising that she should have [kept filming]. She may want to have a voice. I just can’t get my head around any lawyer under the sun ever advising a client in the same circumstances.”
The situation has left Jennifer in a very difficult place. Failure to speak out suggests that she is guilty, but if she were to say anything publicly, then it could end up incriminating her. So when the news broke, people had an inkling that Jennifer may have broken the law given her lack of response to the allegations at the time.
Meredith added: “ I didn’t understand what was going on. Did I think it was something illegal? No. Did I think it was possible? Sure. I mean, anything’s possible, but things didn’t add up for me and that was problematic.” Despite what others may think, Jennifer has a chance to put this to bed once and for all.
She is set to have a trial in March 2022 after which it will become clear just how much trouble she will be in. But until that arises, Meredith will give her the benefit of the doubt.
She continued: “Innocent until proven guilty at the end of the day. My friendship with Jen is a different standard, it’s not held to legal standards, but in terms of a crime, it is innocent till proven guilty.” Time will tell how it all plays out, but for now at least Jennifer has Meredith on her side. And that can only be a good thing.
