It’s a moment that he will certainly remember forever. Prince Charles opened up about the last words he said to his father Prince Philip, right before he died back in April. The Prince of Wales made the revelation in a new BBC documentary about the life and legacy of the late Duke of Edinburgh. Here’s what he has to say.
According to the Daily Mail, Charles had called his father Prince Philip at home the day before he died. Philip died at the age of 99, and just one month short of his 100th birthday.
Here’s What Prince Charles Said To Prince Philip Before His Death
Prince Charles told his father, “We’re talking about your birthday,” but had to say it again because Philip struggled to hear him.
“We’re talking about your birthday!” Prince Charles said. “And whether there’s going to be reception!”
Philip is said to have replied: “Well, I’ve got to be alive for it, haven’t I?”
In the documentary, both Prince William and Prince Harry shared their best memories of their grandfather, Prince Philip, in a new BBC documentary. Members of the royal family have come together to pay tribute to the late Duke of Edinburgh in “Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers.”
In a teaser trailer, William says: “He’s always been a huge presence behind everything we’ve done really.”
Harry, meanwhile, adds: “What you see is what you got with my grandfather. He was unapologetically him.”
Also, Princess Ann’s daughter added: “You never really prepare yourself for losing him because he was always there,” with Prince Charles adding: “We were lucky to have him for nearly 100 years.”
