‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers find that the show is now on hiatus for the 2021 Covid…err, Summer Olympics coverage, but the cliffhanger we were left on my not have packed the punch the writers desired.
Audiences understand that DOOL has done its best with keeping Cin (Ciara and Ben) fans satisfied now that Victoria Konefal has decided to not renew her contract, but rather to return for shorter stints only.
Seeing as Cin was being built to become the next legacy couple, a new gen. Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) if you will, it was a blow to the show.

However, head writer Ron Carlivati has always promised Cin fans they will get their payoff. Unfortunately, it has taken so long that fans have begun to lose interest.
The final episode for two weeks was a nice throwback to Bo kidnapping Hope from the church before she married sly politico, Larry Welch (Andrew Masset) The scheme even had another decoy bride, this time it was Claire Brady (Isabel Durant).
It was a little disappointing that the motorcycle wasn’t used, which would have connected connect Bo, to Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) to Ciara, but we’ll agree with Claire’s good point about this being a new era and motorcycle kidnappings don’t send the right message anymore.
We know Ben will take Ciara to that nasty, half burnt down cabin and we know her memories will return. Love will bloom and Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson) will become the emotional roadkill everyone warned him he will be.
But does anyone even care anymore?
Ben is out there proving Ciara 100% correct. He is possessive and creepy and commits crimes at the drop of a hat. He may have moved up from murder to kidnapping and attempting to jab people with syringes, but he’s still not what you’d call a ‘good guy’.
And then there is Ciara, for whom losing your memories also means losing your sense of human decency. She is rude and cruel (albeit, she has reason to hate Claire, but Claire has changed her face and we like her now, so catch up, Ciara!) and certainly not the kind-hearted heroine super couples are born from.
In a word, Ben and Ciara both now suck as people so, while their big romantic reunion is imminent, it’s definitely not going to fan fans holding their breath throughout the two week hiatus.
Days of Our Lives will return on August 9 after the Olympics coverage hiatus on NBC.
