‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers find that even new lead, Katie Thurston was shocked to find herself swimming in balls on night one of her new season of The Bachelorette.
In a season like no other- Chris Harrison is not the host, instead the task fell to Bachelorette alums Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristow who did a fine, albeit giggly job as replacements.
That’s where anything new and fresh ended. The limo exits provided the same old tropes we’ve come to know and love/hate…depending where the joke fell.
‘The Bachelorette’ Spoilers: Katie Thurston Knee-Deep in Balls During Season 17 Premiere.
A faked accent, a dude showing up in an RV with dirty underwear lying around…which wasn’t nearly as creepy as his job of skin salesman (yeessh), a blow-up doll named Sandy (presumably to keep Katie’s vibrator, MJ company), a man dressed as a cat, a man in a box and a man with a mobile ball-pit (ence the earlier comment- where did you think we were heading?) all clamored to meet Katie.
Katie’s sense of humor seemed to gel with all the jokes, but not with the lived-in RV. Katie was turned off even before learning what Jeff’s job was. Her compassion also had her feeling for, and digging the shy guys.
All in all, though it was a ho-hum beginning, premiere night usually is. We don’t know any of the guys from Adam and the introductions didn’t wow us with anything terribly original.
The guy in the box was eventually revealed. He was a looker. Any guy who spends half a night in a box and still presumes to receive a rose has got to be attractive. It’s just the law.
Katie held her own. Audiences watched her connect with a few different guys, which was a nice change from Clare Crawley, zeroing in on Dale Moss form the get-go.
Katie’s make-out session with Connor B the Cat was pretty cute, especially when his whiskers and nose make-up transferred on to Katie. Kind of hot in a weird, this guy is dressed as a cat, way.
We didn’t see a lot of new hosts Tayshia and Kaitlyn, two of the most enigmatic leads we’ve ever had. Sure, they didn’t want the spotlight taken off Katie, but the two could have been in bed most of the night for all we knew (in fact they probably were, sources say the first night last for like, 72 hours …or at least 10-12).
The most we saw Tayshia and Kaitlyn was then standing at the window providing gasps and giggles. We need less two old Muppets in a balcony and more advice and guidance for the lead, please. Well, okay, we do still want some of that judgey Muppet action on the side!
Did you watch last night’s premiere of The Bachelorette? What did you think of Katie, her guys and the new hosts?
