‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’: Jennifer Shah’s GoFundMe Taken Down After Huge Backlash
The star of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City sent shockwaves around the world when she was arrested on set in front of the whole cast. And things have continued to get worse in her efforts to prove her innocence. Jennifer’s cousin Danny Filipe had responded by attempting to raise $2.5 million for her legal expenses in the case.
Given that Jennifer’s assets have been frozen, the family have sought to raise them through crowdfunding. And that has gotten many people riled. Her fund claimed that numerous people are “‘falsely accused and wrongfully convicted of crimes they did not convict.” As such, it implied that Jennifer was one of them. The public outrage forced the family to remove the fundraiser.
One person wrote: “This is absolutely disgusting, and I have reported it to GoFundMe. I hope others have to…You should all be ashamed of yourselves, but then again, she stole money from the elderly.” But that has not been the only problem, though. Jennifer’s personal life has taken a huge blow. She was forced to leave her home after the landlord had accepted an offer to buy the house she was living in.
Not only that, there have been some very stringent conditions on her movement. Jennifer has been ordered to not leave her state (Utah), in addition to not leaving the United States. Furthermore, her credit cards have been frozen. And yet, she continues to stand firm in the face of criticism.
She denies that she has done anything wrong and has thanked the fans who have continued to support her. In a prior post to her fans on Instagram, she said: “Thank you for being loyal, believing in me…This journey has shown me who my true friends are. All my love. #ShahSquad.”
It will be fascinating to see how Jennifer’s case will transpire, and clearly, there are plenty of twists left yet. There is not doubt that she will fight this case until the end, but she could end up doing more harm than good.
