Queen Elizabeth & The British Royal Family Accused Of “Mass Discrimination” After Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Fiasco!

The Royal family has gotten itself into further controversy with allegations that the institution engages in discriminatory practices.

The Royals Accused Of Mass Discrimination

The first instance of this came to the fore, following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview on CBS. There had been claims that Harry was informed by a member of the Royal’s inner circle that there were concerns over his son Archie’s skin colour. Although the Royals refused to admit that anything had happened in that regard, they have been called out once again over their employment practices.

According to The Guardian, the Royal family made it forbidden to hire “coloured immigrants or foreigners” until the 1960s. This is significant for several reasons. First of all, Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne in 1952. Therefore, such practices were going on under her watch. Given that Britain has a rich history of diversity, partly due to its colonial endeavours as well as the Commonwealth, taking such a stance did not do the Royals any favours.

In response, the Royal family denied any wrongdoing. In an official statement given on behalf of the Royals to E! News, a spokesperson said: “Claims based on a second-hand account of conversations from over 50 years ago should not be used to draw or infer conclusions about modern-day events or operations.”

Nevertheless, the saga does not end there. The newspaper also alleged that the Royal family were exempt from racial equality laws and that these practices are still in place today. As a consequence, any prospective employee would be prevented from taking legal action on the basis of being discriminated against at their workplace. Having said that, the Royals had a different narrative.

The statement added: “The Royal Household and the Sovereign comply with the provisions of the Equality Act, in principle and in practice. This is reflected in the diversity, inclusion and dignity at work policies, procedures and practices within the Royal Household.”

Regardless of the employment practices at hand, the Royals should first make sure they address the claims made against Harry’s son. Failure to do so would only confirm what many have been feeling for some time: a problem of institutional racism within the Royal family.
