NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Wally Kurth Talks Emmy Reels And Playing Two Charcters

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers reveal the soap world’s been all about the Daytime Emmys lately. We’ve seen quite a few posts from different actors celebrating their nomination or congratulating others on theirs.

In fact, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos, ‘General Hospital’) recently shared some pics of him with former TV dad Max Gail (Mike Corbin) on the red carpet. Recently, Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis) got into the Emmy talk with Soap Hub.

Let’s look at what he had to say and what we think would win in a contest between him and his other alter ego, Ned Quartermaine (General Hospital).

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Short and sweet

First, the interview was a quick one, but Kurth got a lot in. During the talk, he explained his philosophy behind a reel. He prefers that a reel of several moments over time is better than submitting an episode of two. He believes it gives more context to the performance. He also talked a bit about the competition and the new guard.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The clips

No surprise here. When it came to what clips he put on his reel, Kurth chose well. ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers indicate there was a lot of drama surrounding the death of Adrienne Johnson (Judi Evans) and the resulting relationship with Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans).

We think each of those moments gives him a good chance to come away with a win on June 25th. The ceremony will be on CBS at 8 PM.

Of course, for Kurth, there was double the work. He admitted in the interview that he submitted for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Ned. We love both the characters, and he talked a bit on how having two shows affects his work. But we wonder what might happen if the two characters had to go head-to-head. Who would be the winner?

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Our pick

Personally, we give the edge to his role as Justin. Not to say he hasn’t had moments as Ned. After all, there was the whole drama over the ELQ situation and his relationship with daughter Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) to deal with. Not to mention a near-death moment for his daughter, as well as heavy relationship stuff.

However, we feel Justin’s storyline was more emotional and touched us in a way the Ned storyline hasn’t. Plus, he had to show a level of real sacrifice and love by ending things with Kayla so she could be with true love Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols). The devastation he displayed throughout is more than worthy of a win.
