Meghan Markle’s Children’s Book ‘The Bench’ Is Getting No Love From Moms

Even though Meghan Markle’s children’s book, The Bench, managed to reach the top of the NY Times Children’s Bestsellers List, apparently it’s getting no love from moms across the country, who have panned it as “nothing original.”

In fact, some critics have gone as far as to say that Meghan’s “hubris and self-importance” have reached new heights in this new book. Here’s what you need to know.

The Bench was released on June 8 in partnership with Random House Children’s Books in the US, Tundra Books and Puffin in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, India and South Africa.

Meghan Markle’s Children’s Book ‘The Bench’ Is Getting No Love From Moms

While the Duchess of Sussex is enjoying her Stateside success with her first ever children’s book, The Bench is already considered a huge flop back in the UK. It sold a little over 3,000 copes during its first week. In comparison, The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman sold over 28,000 copies in the same time period.

With that said, it’s just not getting any love from moms across the country. Julie Gunlock, director of the Center for Progress & Innovation at Independent Women’s Forum told Fox News that the book would have been better if Meghan would have taken a different approach in her message.

“If Meghan Markle really wanted to be provocative and challenge people’s views, she would push back on men who abandon their wives, partners, and children and reject the destructive narrative that tells boys and young men that their natural behaviors are inappropriate, toxic, dangerous, and in need of reform,” Gunlock said in a statement to Fox News.

“Markle thinks she’s produced something new, but she’s done nothing original or even interesting. Masculine behaviors in boys and young men and traditional fatherhood aren’t the problem. What is a problem in this society is children growing up without fathers and boys being told they are inherently bad or damaged.”

If that weren’t enough, Fox and Friends Weekend co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy also slammed the Duchess of Sussex’s efforts, calling both her and Prince Harry as “narcissistic” couple.

“Meghan and Harry’s hubris and self-importance are reaching new heights as Meghan declares she is reimagining fatherhood for the world with her new children’s book. Aside from the fact that they have been parents for like two hot minutes, I’m not sure we should be taking advice on fatherhood from two narcissistic pseudo celebrities who are estranged from their own fathers,” she said.
