Harry Style is no stranger to breaking the internet. He did so in his vogue photoshoot amid a lot of controversy from the more conservative side of things when he posed in a blue, Givenchy gown prompting everyone to lose their minds and some to even lament house traditional masculinity is dead (when, nope, it’s still alive and kickin’ last time we checked), so now it looks like Harry has decided to poke the bear again by posting pictures of him at a photoshoot, dressed as Disney’s iconic red-haired Princess, Ariel, from The Little Mermaid.
No one was expecting this, no one asked for it, Harry just showed up in a shell bra and a tail fin, but some people are saying that this is exactly the photoshoot that the internet needed, and for the most part, we have to agree.
Harry Styles as… Hariel???
The photos are not exactly new, however. As we all know, back in 2019 it was rumored that Harry Styles would be taking on the role of Prince Eric for Disney’s new live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, but the real story soon surfaced that he actually turned down the role, and now we know why… maybe he wanted to defy gender norms and play a beautiful mermaid instead.
These photos were taken right after he decided to go public and tell the world that he had turned down being Prince Eric, however they just resufaced and the internet is living.
I mean, you have to admit, he does have the pipes for it. But in all seriousness, it looks like Harry was just out to troll the fans with this one. In one picture there was a side-by-side of a still of animated Ariel crying next to Harry as ‘Hariel’ with the caption, “Ariel spotted crying at the bottom of the sea today because Harry Styles just ended her entire career.”
I don’t know about that, but he did manage to make quite a stir with the photos. Especially the ones that had ‘Hariel’ smoking a cigarette and toasting with a champagne flute. I mean, hey, being a mermaid is stressful, especially when you have a seawitch after you, sometimes a mermaid just has to kick back, you know?
