With her announcement for California governor, Caitlyn Jenner has been accused of being transphobic for joining with the movement to ban trans athletes from school sports, and openly explained why she thought it wasn’t fair.
She’s continued to call out others, but today she posted a meme from Donald Trump Jr., and this is where we’re going to go off the rails a bit. In the meme, it shows Jenner on the left with makeup and in an extravagant dress with the label “Conservative Girls”. While on the right shows Dr. Levine in a very unflattering photo with the label “Liberal Girls”.

Alexandra Billings, an actress, wrote to Jenner saying, “Reposting Donald Trump Jr’s pic says volumes about both your self-hatred and your blatant transphobia. I know this rage. I lived with it for years and it is still a cacophony of voices that haunt me.”
The meme seems to have been deleted from her social media, but the anger and vitriol still continue. If we take a step back and look at this objectively, this is not transphobic, by any stretch of the imagination. If anything, all they’re saying is that they think Jenner is more attractive than Levine and making a political joke.
Is it funny? Maybe. Maybe not. Is it transphobic? No. It’s now transphobic for one transperson to share a meme saying they look better than another transperson? I’ve got news for you, stay off the internet, because we’ve seen truly disgusting things on social media. This is not one of them.
The only reason this is being called into question seemingly is that Jenner’s political slant is on the wrong side of the divide. Had she chosen to run in California as a Democrat, and this meme was reversed and they found a photo of a Republican transperson/woman that was unflattering with Jenner on the other side, it would probably be hailed and revered as gospel.
Let’s relax on throwing everything under the same folder as transphobia. There are actually a**holes out there, let’s call them out. Not this meh meme.
