Andrew Garfield may have won over the hearts of fans as Spiderman, but he is still waiting for an opportunity to wear the famous costume once again.
Andrew Garfield Confirms He ‘Did Not Get A Call’ About Making A Return To Spiderman
There has been increasing speculation that Andrew could reprise his role in the upcoming movie entitled, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’. There are also rumours that Tobey Maguire may make an appearance. But as for Andrew, the jury is still out. In an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor confirmed that the directors had not approached him.
He said: “There’s nothing to ruin. … I did not get a call. I would’ve gotten a call by now. … But I don’t want to rule anything out. Maybe they want to call me! Maybe they’re going to call me and say, ‘People want this.” That has not stopped fans from running wild with theories, though.
From the moment that Andrew left the Spiderman franchise, he was very vocal about his disappointment in not being able to do the character justice. That was not for want of trying. The actor was stuck within the confinements of the Hollywood industry, where profit trumps creative thinking. Fans, though, still want him back.
Andrew admitted to having a secret Twitter account in order to gauge the audiences’ interest, but he refrained from using his true identity. He added: “I wish I could just speak to everyone and say, ‘I recommend that you chill. They might be doing something, but I ain’t got a call.” It seems increasingly unlikely that Andrew will star in the movie.
The current Spiderman actor, Tom Holland, has downplayed the chances of that happening. However, it could simply be a case of the producers keeping a tight lid on things. After all, Tom cannot be trusted with any sensitive information. We only have to look at his past when, he infamously leaked The Avengers movie release date on Instagram.
In a previous interview with Esquire, Tom said: “Unless they have hidden the most massive piece of information from me.. It’ll be a continuation of the Spider-Man movies that we’ve been making.” Time will tell whether Andrew makes a comeback.
